Day 1 of Fitness Challenge, Plus a Playdate

Talk about a busy day! So my long and eventful day began with meeting my friend, Ordene for a playdate at Sandy Lake Amusement Park. It’s quite possiby the cutest, kid-friendly amusement park ever. The park offered toddler and kid friendly rides, a train ride throughout the park, picnic tables, a swimming pool, and a farm. All of the kids absolutely LOVED this place! As a matter of fact, Ze cried crocodile tears when we left. I think she wants to move there.

Here are some flicks from the park:

This was when we first got there, and Vito had been sleeping in the car. He always wakes up groggy lol

Me and Ords
After the park (and countless times on the Merry-Go-Round. Seriously, how do kids enjoy this ride? It can easily make anyone nauseated!), we headed to lunch. Ordene was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, so she suggested we go to one of her favorite restaurants in Dallas, that just so happened to be a South African restaurant! Home away from home I bet for Ords! It’s called Lekka, and the food was absolutely deelish! Ords and I split a South African dish called Samosas, which is a triangular fried pastry filled with veggies and comes with a mango chutney sauce on the side:
So yummy!

And we also split another dish, called a Tramezzini, which filled with mozzarella, spinach artichokes and roasted red pepper:

I meant to take a picture of the whole thing, but I was busy stuffing my face and forgot. It was fantastic!

And of course you cannot possibly have a lunch date without a prerequisite cocktail:
This was a blue martini (I cannot for the life of me remember the official name.) It was quite tasty, but not a lot of “kick”, like other martinis I’ve had. Which isn’t a bad thing. I mean it was noon and it was a playdate and all.
And the kids enjoyed the place as well:
Such a fun day! 🙂
After the playdate, I put the kids down for a nap (can you say, exhausted!), and then changed clothes to get ready for my run. Chris was at home as well, so off I went to tackle the pavement. I ran a little over 3 miles, and there was a nice breeze earlier, as it had rained a bit:
Post run!

After my run, and before I showered, I did a round of ab exercises, including the plank, the hundred, and the reverse crunch. I did 3 sets of each, holding my plank position for 45 seconds. Here are some YouTube links that shows you how to do each ab workout: Also here:, and here:
I continued to drink water throughout the day to keep myself hydrated, because later, I would go for run #2! Well, it was more of a quick sprint workout. I sprinted off and on for about 20 minutes. The sun was about to set, so the backdrop was just stunning!

This was workout was quick and to the point. Plus I didn’t want to be outside when it was completely dark. Such a great workout!
So today was long for sure. I’m going to do 2-a-days 3 times a week. After all, I am supposed to be challenging myself right? As far as eating, I didn’t eat anything sweet today! I had mexican rice and beans for dinner, plus some calamari that Chris picked up that was so good. Okay so the calamari was fried. Big deal. I worked out twice today! I can have my calamari if I want. 😉
