A Night Out On The Town!

Hey guys! I’m so sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days, but I’ve been very busy. Busy recovering from a night of dancing! Okay so let me preface this with saying, I go out dancing with my girlfriends a few times a year. That’s right. A few times a year. So whenever I get a chance to get out and dance the night away, I really do just that! I dance all night long, and then I wake up the next morning sore as hell, almost always on little sleep (think just a few hours, because Vito wakes up between 7:30-8:00 am), then spending the day trying not do too much, because let’s be honest, I’m tired!!

This past weekend, one of my very best friends of 17 years, Ayana came into town to help celebrate our friend Q’s birthday. On Friday, we decided to head to downtown Dallas to have a drink or two at the rooftop of a hotel. For this occasion, I decided to wear my pink bow pumps by Aminah Abdul Jillil. I was gonna wait and wear them with a fancier outfit, but I decided I wanted to give them a test run and see how comfortable they wore. I paired them with some high waist skinny stonewashed jeans, and a floral crop top:

And before we headed out, Ayana and I had fun posing it up before we left:

Ayana and Q, the birthday girl!
This was a very chill, laid back night. We just indulged in a few cocktails, had some good girl talk, and luxuriated while enjoying the scene. And the pink bow pumps survived the comfort level test. I wore them for about 3 hours, and my feet didn’t feel like they were about to fall off!
The next night, Ayana and I met up with some girls to celebrate Q’s birthday. I opted to wear a two piece set that included a skirt and crop top. (Crop tops were clearly my thing this past weekend eh?) And also some comfortable dancing shoes, which were jeweled platform sandals by Dolce Vita:

About 10 of us ladies were whisked away in a limo to head to a nightclub, and it was there where I danced the night away! Some of the girls I have never met before, but we had the best time together and it felt as though we had known each other for years! (Or maybe, the cocktails made us think that? But I digress.) The night turned out to be a ton of fun, but I was reminded of a few things: Dancing the night away and then waking up to prepare breakfast for your kids do not mix! Which is probably why I go out to clubs just a few times a year lol! I felt like I was sleepwalking! And also, because my mom is in town, I was SO thankful that she watched Ze and Vito for me so that I could nap, and began my recovery from dancing the night way. Thanks Mom! 🙂

About to get our bottles

Dancing burns calories
Oh by the end of the night I let my hair down. I mean, isn’t that what you do when you go out? Let your hair down for a bit? hehe

In short, it was a busy but fun filled weekend, but this mama was exhausted! Lawd! I’m so glad my mom was here to be extra eyes and hands, as Chris was out of town to host festivities for his CDR weekend in Detroit.

Road to recovery. Washed my hair and did absolutely nothing the next day.
So I’m back to mommyhood and am re-energized! And won’t be be dancing the night away for a few months. Well, that’s until my bachelorette weekend in August. But honey I don’t even want to think about that yet! Lol!

  1. Love the fits and Both pairs of shoes. Good times all around 🙂 You have to find time in your busy life of taking care of those two beautiful kids to make time for yourself. It's important get out and be around other adults and have a blast or you could go crazy LOL
