How Do You Unwind?

No matter what you do for a living, whether it’s a schoolteacher, accountant, social worker, banker, or stay-at-home mom, it’s necessary that you find a way to unwind after a long, busy day. Before I had my darling babies, I used to work with emotionally disturbed youth at a residential facility as a youth counselor, then clinical liaison, and later as a crisis stabilizer. Needless to say, after I got off of work each evening, unwinding was very, very necessary.

For as long as I can remember, my favorite things to do to unwind haven’t changed much. As a very busy stay-at-home to a one and two year old, (yes, all prayers are welcome for me to not completely lose my mind. Thank you in advance!), I still unwind in the same way that I did when I worked with the youth: a tasty cocktail or glass (or 6) of wine, a good book, a long hot bath, and whenever I have the time, I’d like to get pampered with a day at the Spa. All of these things help me feel rejuvenated and brand new! Also, I think that giving yourself the opportunity to unwind helps you to release whatever stresses you have, as life can be pretty hectic sometimes.

About to enjoy a day of pampering!

Enjoying a martini while prepping for my sister’s baby shower last year.  This was so relaxing!

About to enjoy an hour long massage and facial

At home enjoying a spiked lemonade after the kids went to bed. (I added vodka.)

About to have some enjoy some Dom with Chris during Christmastime.

Loving the quiet time while my kids napped last month.

Complimentary meal at the spa: Glass of champagne, tomato basil with lettuce, cheese panini  with a slice of cheesecake. (This place was fab and is in Charlotte, NC)

Reading a book by one of my favorite authors while Vito napped on me a little while ago.
Post manicure and pedicure. Letting my toes dry!
These are just some of the ways that I unwind. Even as I write this post I am enjoying a glass of vino. How do you guys unwind at the end of a long day?

  1. I unwind by keeping the house cool and wearing my old housecoat that is nice and warm with fuzzy slippers. I watch Wendy at 11 and have a toddy. I finally get in bed with my hubby and smell his neck to fall asleep. I love his smell! Nighty night. Well not until 2 or 3 lol.

  2. Right now nothing lol. I have a new book that I have yet to crack open by Jennifer Weiner. And I've heard good things about that book too! Let me know how it is!
