Lets Talk about Hair!

Hey guys! I can finally say that I almost feel settled 100%. All of the boxes and suitcases are unpacked and now put away, so I can finally do what’s important in life, and that’s catch up on my DVR. Lol!
I can also finally make time to get my hair done. And by “done”, I mean get a new color. I’ve been blonde now for about a year, and before that my hair was a reddish brown, which is somewhat closest to my natural hair color. (But let’s be honest: I haven’t seen my natural hair color since I was 18.)

I have experimented with many different colors over the years, and I have to say, some colors require a little bit more maintenance than others. However, having blonde hair dries my hair out sooooo bad! If you’re not careful it will damage your hair quicker than a blink of an eye. (Okay, well not that fast. It’s a little bit more gradual than that actually.) And you may or may not have noticed, but my hair is kind of thick. Okay my hair is very thick. So thick AND dry hair is just, well, not good. So in an effort to keep it moisturized, I try to deep condition it once a week, and apply daily mositurizers on it so my poor hair isn’t so dehydrated. I haven’t been very loyal to hair products over the years either. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite things to do is to try out new hair products! I wear my hair curly most days, because straightening it is a just a chore. Plus, with this heat, my hair would only stay straight for so long anyway! (I’m sure my curly-haired fabbies can relate.) Anyway, I have included below what hair products I’m using now on an almost daily basis:

From left: Kinky Curly “knot today” leave-in conditoner
Middle: Cantu shea butter Coconut Curling cream
Right: Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist

I use either of these on any given day to already damp hair. Right now I’m really loving the Cantu shea butter Curling Cream. Keeps my curls intact and spicy.

Below I’ve inlcuded some pictures of my hair evolution from reddish brown to blonde. This transition began a year ago a little bit after Vito was born, up until a few months ago:

Blonde and having fun!
Bottom left was after I blow dried my hair. Attempted to straighten it afterwards. Top left it was professionally straightened.
I added bangs a several months back, and this is the last time it was professionally straightened. (Which was the end of January!)
For a brief moment I added pink to my hair around my birthday back in November, and that was SO much fun! I’ll show that process at a later date in another post. But now I’m pretty close to deciding which color I want to do next. One thing’s for certain though: no matter what hair color I’m sporting, you better believe I’m having fun, whether it’s blonde, pink, black, or brown. 😉
